Dry Fruit Milk: A Natural Boost for Strength and Immunity

Dry Fruit Milk: A Natural Boost for Strength and Immunity

Dry fruit milk, often called badam milk or kesar milk, is a much-loved drink in many Indian homes. It combines the goodness of milk with nuts, dates and saffron, and it is simple to make.

Why people love it

Milk provides protein and calcium. Almonds, pistachios and cashews add protein, healthy fats and minerals, while dates bring natural sweetness and energy. Together they make a satisfying, nourishing drink that is easy to enjoy.

No single food can boost immunity on its own. Good sleep, regular activity and a varied diet all support your body's natural defences, and dry fruit milk can be one tasty part of that routine.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 almonds, soaked overnight and peeled
  • 6 pistachios
  • 4 cashews
  • 3 dates, deseeded
  • A few strands of Kashmiri saffron, soaked in 2 tablespoons of warm milk
  • A pinch of cardamom powder

Method

  1. Blend the almonds, pistachios, cashews and dates with half a cup of milk into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat the rest of the milk in a pan and stir in the paste.
  3. Simmer gently for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring often so it does not stick.
  4. Add the soaked saffron and cardamom, and cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Serve warm, or chill it for a refreshing cold drink.

Tips

  • Dates usually add enough sweetness, so you may not need sugar.
  • Make a batch of the dry fruit powder in advance and stir a spoonful into hot milk whenever you like.
  • Skip the nuts for anyone with a nut allergy.
